Her boyfriend committed suicide, but she doesn't want that to be who she is, so she makes poor life choices and drama. It's a thing.

That's hardly any fun, if he knew what he was doing. What's the point if he could actually handle a kiss.

Maya would shoot Pedobear with arrows. She gives no fucks.

Because nothing beats a good first kiss story like making the girl literally fall for you...

I kid. Aki doesn't care about her age. It isn't like she's, you know, Ken's age. o.o Girls love older guys, hah!

Well, it's Degrassi, their first episode nearly had the main character fall into the clutches of a cyber predator. So while Teen Nick runs it the show is allowed to go waaaaaaay past what other shows do. And that was back in 2001.

Maya's worry about age is pretty minimal, if she likes the guy, and he isn't in college, it shouldn't matter. But she's pretty aware of how not ready for getting attached she is right now.

I didn't think they'd have a show that dark... But it's been a long time since I watched Teen Nick.

Oops, he's graduating soon... It's okay! Aki is dumb and wouldn't pick up on any hints unless she hit him in the face. XD

While Teen Nick runs it, it isn't a show Teen Nick created, so while they have some executive influences it's mostly Epitome Picture's baby and they have a ton of room to work. There are episodes Teen Nick wouldn't air (mostly having to do wit Manny having an abortion in Season 2). But yes, Degrassi is allowed to go to some dark places.

And if she was interested she wouldn't bother being subtle about it.
