TEST DRIVE MEME

So you think you have what it takes to be a demigod? Want to spend a summer at Camp Half-Blood, but can't decide who you wanna toss in? Give us a whirl right here!

Prompts for your convenience!:

1. Fashion disasters. That is what you all are, at least according to Aphrodite's cabin (seriously, neon orange?). But since it's the uniform, you have to at least try to make it work. What are your creative ideas for style in the summer sun when you have to wear apparently the ugliest shirt known to man?

2. Defending the line. A hell hound has been attacking camp borders! Rather than risk it getting in, it's up to the campers to dispatch it as quickly as possible. Make a plan, form groups and take this guy out? Or try to fight it on your own. (After all, "hero" tends to tie in with "idiot.")

3. Training grounds. A normal day on the training grounds. Archery practice, swordplay, and a climbing wall spitting lava! Learn yourself some skills while you still can, otherwise you might end up barbecue in a real combat situation.

4. Beach party! Day off and we are chilling on the beach. It's nice being so close to the water, right? And I promise Poseidon won't try to drown most of you.

5. Prank victims. SOMEONE (looking at you, Hermes kid), has decided to lock anyone in the bathroom around the time the most people shower. This is a problem, as SOMEONE (looking at you, Hermes kid) also lost the key to the bathroom. It might take a while for them to find it, or they might just blow down the door. So what do you feel like doing tonight, my poor trapped demigods?

[It hasn't even been that long since he last used a sword, and yet it feels like it's been a month already. Geez, how time flies.

Souji's early at the training grounds with one, trying to get used to the weight of the weapon before doing anything really strenuous.]

...It's not the sword I used to carry around, but it'll do.

[He can also be caught in the middle of a break once he's got that down, just chilling out somewhere near the weapon racks, or a tad later when he starts back up again, this time doing basic swings. Hey, gotta start small, right?]

[ What's the point of having a sword? Martial Arts were a thousand times cooler than sword fighting could ever be. Although fighting hand to hand with someone with a sword was dangerous too, unlike fighting Shadows. So Chie finally agrees to try and learn a little about how to use a sword, and what better instructor than Souji?! ]

Alright! I think I totally got the hang of this. I just have to stick you with the pointy end right? It can't be that hard!

[ Getting to hang out at the beach is always a welcome distraction. Even back home in Japan, Chie loved to ride her scooter with her friends to the beach. Even if she didn't particularly like how she looked in her bikini (given how flat she was and her very uncurvy hips) getting the chance to run in the sand and swim as much as she could until she got tired was the best. ]

Oh man, I hope someone brought a barbecue! It wouldn't be the perfect beach day without some grilled steak!

Lo and behold, Akihiko is already at the grill, turning over the skewers that are lined up along the thin bars. Of course, he’s decked out in just a tight blue speedo, but he’s also wearing a shirt at present, just in case some random charcoal flakes decide to bombard his chest.]

[He shouldn't comment. He really shouldn't. It's not like there was a staple for what you ate at the beach (even if thinks the yakisoba and stuff at the vendor further up the shore is more suited for beaches than steak) (or shaved ice cream) (or watermelons), but barbecue was just highly impractical. It's not like any of them had the money to buy the equipment or the food. Or like anyone had the transportation for either of them.

Haru Miura | KHR | Daughter of Aphrodite | 3

[Haru has never handled a weapon in her life, unless sewing needles counted. She knows a bit of self-defense, though it's unfortunately usually exhibited on Older Lambo, but she's also a gymnast, as strange as her friends might find it. So she's decided to play to her strengths for now, stretching and practicing simple moves, like handstands and flips before moving on to the more advanced maneuvers.

It's a bit difficult, since she's wearing jeans instead of a more pliant material, and she's had to knot her bright orange shirt tight in order to maintain her dignity, but soon enough she manages to hit her stride.

Feel free to watch, or maybe even get in her way.]

[Aphrodite's kids aren't the only ones who think this... orange atrocity needs to be fixed. But it's nothing a little bleach and some glitter paint can't fix, if you ask Cupid. She's just going to have to figure out where to get some.

3. Training Grounds
Erk is not meant for this. At all. He's not meant to carry anything much heavier than a spellbook. Meanwhile he is trying to channel Lady Louise and be non-completely-hopeless with a bow... and failing, because he never actually learned anything about archery from her. Or anyone else.

He's not even going to try the swords. But feel free to come over and laugh at how much he's managed to embarrass himself already.

5. Prank Victims
Guess who's included in "most people" who shower at this time of night? Erk's gotten rather used to having running water now, it makes everything smell so much nicer. Unfortunately, showers mean going into the bathroom to get them... which means that he's now stuck in said bathroom with a towel around his waist and anyone else who happens to be in here.

"Lovely. What are we supposed to do now?" He kicks the door idly, but the lousy doors that pop open at the least little thing never do it when you actually want them to.

The Forge
If it wasn't for the heavy coating of grease and soot on the girl, you would think she belonged to, well, any God but Hephaestus. But there she was happily tinkering away at a toy mouse. Humming pleasantly to herself at a bench a little too high for her to comfortably work, but she seemed okay with it. She had a few more projects, all finished, moving around the forge.

A small array of tiny animals she made. Some were bringing her tools and helping, others were just chasing each other around willy nilly and probably getting in the way. They were all small, but as accurate as she could manage. Even animals she'd only seen in books.

Are you curious about her toys, are her toys bothering you?

The Beach
Sky sat with a book and a small toy snake, far from the edge of the water. She never really liked water at home, it felt weird and it always tickled. Part of it had to do with her body being ever so slightly charged, her powers were gone but she was still a bit away from human. That wasn't the case here but water was still a thing she wasn't entirely okay with.

Of course, her cute toy snake wasn't waterproof, nor was the book she borrowed from the Athena Cabin, so her staying far from the edge of the water seemed more understandable. The snake slithered and shifted across the sand, simple motions that were easy to mimic. It did attempt to jump a few times, invisible prey, part of the sequence. They never worked quite right and it took a few moments for it to roll back to a position to slither.

Meanwhile, Akane was staring at her own project like it was trying to devour her. She was trying to twist her mind around it and while the details were coming in fast and hot, she wasn't too certain how to go through this whole thing.

"How in the world do I do this?" Inquired Akane outloud as she turned her tiny model over in her hands, which had maybe the feet finished. "Some Daughter of Vulcan I am... Can't even figure out machinery without having some kind of massive brainwave."

Zidane had struck out with one of the girls in Aphrodite's cabin. Even if he noticed he was taller here than at home, he was noticeably shorter than most of the camp. The girl he struck up a conversation with was a bit stuck on looks, it was really depressing.

He stretched and fell back off the log he'd been sitting on, his lack of tail was becoming more obvious every second. It was so weird to find out it wasn't even his, it was just part of hiding him in a world with people who never had tails. He wasn't quite sure how that worked, but... it was weird. No tail, no airship, he has parents.

Still, the girls were all really nice to look at, he's sure he'll be able to get one or two of them to smile. Eventually. Plus, adventures, certainly adventures would be present from what little he's read on demi-gods since he arrived. What more could he ask for?

Maybe the one daughter of Aphrodite couldn't appreciate him but at the moment, there was a daughter of Apollo headed his way. And she looked just a touch lost.

She made no bones about stopping right near him and leaning over just a bit while he was still seated to ask, "Pardon me, do you know the way to the training grounds?"

[For the last several days, Tieria had gained access to and holed himself up inside the library, reading what he could, learning what he could, and trying to figure out the bigger picture. He had ignored the necklace for now. Leaving it off, but never far from him just in case. He didn't want to be bothered by communicating with others, but, if they were from home, he wanted to make sure he heard them. He listened, but only long enough to determine if it was someone worth talking to.

Someone needed to come make him be social.]

Akane is there, bouncing on her heels. While she didn't mind fighting, the weaponry was foreign to her as she picked up a quarterstaff and then placed it down. And then picked up some kind of short sword... and placed it back on the rack. She was having a hard decision thinking of what she needed. "Does anyone have like a pair of gauntlets or something? I'm used to just punching things."

Beach
Ah the sun, sand and gah, there was a lot of toned people here. Not that Akane wasn't toned herself, but she felt out of place in her one-piece red swimsuit. From a distance with her hair down, it might look like she was from the Ares family, if only for the fact that across her chest was Vulcan's symbol on it. Still, she had found her trusty volleyball and had started bouncing it, counting out loud. "Twenty-seven, twenty-eight, twenty-nine...!"

[Being the new girl in camp wasn't fun but at least people were being very friendly to her and welcoming. And by welcoming, they mean being suddenly hounded by the Aphrodite kids to try and be a little fashion doll.

[It's a nice day at camp and Nunnally's not one to complain about a swim in the ocean. It's actually pretty refreshing after all the fighting and training. But for someone who has recently regained the use of her legs, standing in the water is just enough. She is friendly and won't hurt anyone if they want to talk to her.]

Today she's at the training grounds - again. This was where one would usually find April when she wasn't sleeping. Her frustration knew nowhere else to be turned loose unfortunately.

And she was still dressed in what she first came in. Someone help a gal out? Or maybe train with one of Zeus' kids.

Even more, he's Super Sentai and he may not be able to transform, but he won't let that get the best of him! Taking up a sword, he spins it a bit before pointing it at the best]

[Musa enjoyed the beach while she could, especially since at least here didn't need to be cleaned up. Maybe she could ask the others for a fun game of volleyball later, but for now, Musa is just laying down and humming some tunes and just relaxing for the time being. It seemed like the best idea after all.]

[It was a small miracle when she bothered to associate with anyone else in the camp -- how would you feel if you had been demoted in the grand scheme if thigs? -- not to mention wander out to the beach. Of course she was by herself, careful to steer clear of any potential troublesome individuals that could bother her, though even she could miss someone in her current state. She looked around, an almost paranoid air about her as she hazard a step out onto the sand. Again, her head snapped around, trying to see anyone… before she let out a soft, pleased sigh, wriggling her toes into the sand.]

[Hey, even she could enjoy the finer things in life every now and then. It's just getting caught that's the problem.

[With so many campers around, it's only inevitable that she gets caught, but Izanami must be incredibly unlucky, as she gets approached by none other than Ryoji. After hearing from Minato about Operation Babe Hunt, how could he resist trying it himself?

Thankfully, he's still being polite at the moment, grinning as he stops beside her.]

[It was all too much. She'd been taken from one battlefield and told that she was being trained as a demi-god of all things to fight for Gods, beings that hadn't interacted in her life too much before.

And to be honest, the fact that she wasn't alone, that there was an actual camp for those like her, didn't help at all.

Nor did finding out that she was Athena's child. A week later and Hinata still found her self practicing the Gentle Fist style's taijutsu, making it close to the Strong Fist style ,and wishing for her ability to channel chakra back so that she could do some actual damage to the wooden target she was practicing against.

She'd stayed back and observed how things went for the last week, but she didn't know anyone and she was starting to miss Konoha and her friends. Friends that knew nothing about her, she supposed.

Although, all of her observation had made her wonder about using a sword, since that was more traditional from what she could see. It was just a matter of finding a skilled instructor. But, for now, she'd settle for testing the various forms of swords to see which felt the best for her.

Perhaps, if she went back home, she could become and ANBU?]

[None of the swords couldn't beat his katana from home; it was just the familiarity of the weapon that made the other weapons in the camp less...desirable? Or just comfort, who knows. Nonetheless, Yu finished up his training for the moment and spotted the girl testing out the weapons.

[Okay, this wasn't Nagoya, not even Japan, and Airi's cell phone had shorted itself out as soon as she'd stepped into the camp, so no demon summoning app. She still wasn't too happy about that; she'd liked her phone, even before she'd had to use it to fight. That had been a cute phone, and she'd saved up for a long time to buy it!

None of that mattered now, though. The order to fight had been given, and there was no way in the world Airi was going to sit out a fight. She'd run ahead of everyone else to grab a sword and shield - forget everyone else. Of course she could handle this herself!

...only now that she's actually facing the hellhound, Airi seems to be in a little bit over her head, though she won't ever admit it. Rushing it head-on was not the smartest move she could have made, and now she appears to be like a cat that's been run up a tree after it decided to rush her back.

Literally. Airi is now hanging on a low tree branch, swinging her sword wildly, and yelling at the hellhound.]

You stupid hellhound! I'll get you! Idiot! Like I'd lose to something like you!

[Yikes. Even if the girl was chased up a tree, she still was pretty intimidating. She certainly takes after her father.

Ryoji took his time getting to the hellhound, but not because he didn't want to help. He was trying to sneak closer without the monster noticing, seeing as with his skills, or rather, his lack thereof, he needed the element of surprise.

Thankfully, his powers are kind of assisting with that. Airi will see him suddenly fade into existence right behind the hellhound, aiming his sword down. Maybe he'll do some damage, maybe not. Either way, it should provide enough of a distraction for Airi to get into a better battle stance.]
